A 1931 ORIGINAL MGM 14x22 Window Card Movie Poster on MATA HARI
! This is the single only known original to have survived! It doesn't get rarer than this one. It doesn't get much nicer either. This was MGM's biggest release of 1931, and it's biggest money maker too. MGM called on poster artist
Ted Ireland "Vincentini" to render the artwork for this film. His poster renderings on this title were exactly what MGM ordered - class all the way with elegant style. Vincentini was used by MGM in the early 1930's for all of their top-shelf "A" productions. If you're a veteran poster collector like I am, you'll know that original posters from 1931 seldom surface on any titles and are among the rarest of all the Depression era paper out there. This example is the only known surviving original. It's been UNTOUCHED and UNRESTORED. I've seen too many window cards poorly restored and so I felt it would be best to advertise this piece, given its rarity, in its untouched state. It would be very easy to have this card cleaned and looking NearMINT. It's solid, with just a small tiny nick out at the bottom (see photo). It has some slight staining that would wash right out if it were simply just cleaned, but again, because of all the poorly restored window cards out there on other titles, I wanted to make certain the buyer could tell this piece was solid and so I kept it as is.
