This listing is for a Magnum Dynalab FT 101A Analog FM Tuner.
This is a very nice sounding and very sensitive analog FM tuner. It uses an open-loop local oscillator for tuning. This greatly reduces phase noise common with synthesizers (which in FM translates into hiss). It does not. use AFC, again to reduce AFC artifacts. Its oscillator is quite stable after warmup (The oscillator is always powered, even in the "OFF" state to ensure always operating at equilibrium.). I seldom ever need to retune it. This is the same methodology used by Sansui in their really good analog tuners from the 1970's. To me it produces sound that makes it a worthy analog music source. There are better tuners for a lot more money but this one belongs in the ranks of high-end tuners.
